Fall Is a Verb
Oct, 05, 2025
Fall is a verb,
when you stand in the heart of the forest,
when the wind drifts by,
when you hear the leaves falling—
landing softly
upon a bed of dried leaves.
One leaf brushes another,
making a tender, crisp whisper—
like raindrops into a still ocean,
a whisper of countless tiny touches.
Early afternoon sunlight
peeks through the branches
as the forest holds its breath,
trying to overhear
each leaf’s whisper
falling
into another,
drifting,
trembling
with their secret delight.
The woods blushed.
