The Trees Want to Remain Quiet...2017

The Trees Want to Remain Quiet, But The Wind Won't Stop
This project is an eight-channel video installation featuring simultaneous looping of eight videos capturing reflections of trees in water. The dynamic movements of wind-blown water continually alter the images of the trees, creating a meditative viewing experience that oscillates between poetic, abstract, quiet, and realistic moments, exploring the themes of illusion and reflection. Curator Iris Amizlev remarked, 'In the series, the actual trees are absent; only their upside-down reflections on water are visible, their ethereal images intangible, like whispers in the wind. Constantly shifting, the trees transition from vaporous abstractions melting into the water to brief apparitions when they take shape, and dematerializing again as the wind erases them. The title of this work is inspired by a famous Chinese poem.
