The Color of The Air, 2018
inkjet print, 32x60 inch / each (size can be adjusted to fit the exhibition space)
I utilize online global news reports and news photographs on air pollution as source material to create a series of large abstract images representing the air. Extracting colours from the polluted air in documentary photographs, I generate twenty-four images of pure colour gradients. These are paired with corresponding text information quoted from the news reports. The images of these pure-colour gradients convey nothing but the diffusive and unfamiliar essence of the polluted air. The accompanying text panel provides information related to the image, covering the topic of air pollution from various perspectives, including politics, economics, environment, and health.
