The Permanent Collection on Display, Hua Jin & James Nizam, Parc Edgewater, Pointe-Claire.
Curated by Stewart Hall Art Gallery
These five photos were captured along the St. Lawrence River in Quebec and exhibited beside the river at Parc Edgewater, Pointe-Claire. Each photo is a composite of multiple images taken at the same time and at the same location. While photography is often perceived as freezing a singular moment, these five photos visually convey the layering of multiple moments. The delicate water ripples in the images evoke a sensation that is both familiar and foreign, blending elements of reality, illusion, and the surreal. They transform linear time into a vertical experience, presenting an unexpectedly serene and tranquil visual ambiance. Offering a unique poetic perspective on familiar landscapes, they encourage contemplation of the passage of time, incorporating the essence of Eastern contemplation and meditation into the visual narrative.
