This video was filmed beside the Atlantic during my artist residency in Iceland. It is a nine-minute, real-time recording of a distant mountain gradually being enveloped by dense fog, while Arctic Tern soar through the sky. The silence within these nine minutes carries an immense, invisible power—existing between the vast sky and earth, between the birds’ endless flight. It holds a primal beauty, reminiscent of the beginning of time. All things in this world revolve within the rhythms of nature.
Through the dense fog suspended between earth and sky, perhaps we can catch both a glimpse of where we come from and meanwhile feel the uncertainty of where we are heading. The shifting veil of fog mirrors the way our understanding of the world is constantly obscured and revealed, reminding us of the fragile balance between clarity and ambiguity. Especially in this era—after COVID, amid the rapid advancement of technology and the turbulence of global affairs—this sense of uncertainty feels more present than ever. Like the mountain disappearing into the fog, our future remains unfolding, shifting, waiting to be seen.
