Walking Dogs

On both sides of the road,
two ladies are walking their dogs,

a small black dog, with a knot on top of his head

a small white dog, with black circles under his eyes

they look at each other

across the road,

with their small-black-and-white curiosities,

the small black dog, with a knot on top of his head

stops, and

the small white dog, with black circles under his eyes

also stops

Long-lost friends,

they seem,

trying to recognize each other

The wind stops,

in this early morning

Two ladies, both

wearing black T-shirts and black yoga pants,

like two shadows,

tugging their two dogs,

a small black dog, with a knot on top of his head

to the left,

a small white dog, with black circles under his eyes,

to the right.
